PD Racer

The Puddle Duck Racer
Simplicity Is The Essence Of True Beauty
The PD Racer by design is a simple and fun boat to build and to sail. The designer wanted to create a boat class that opens building and racing to everyone. The bottom 10″ of the hull is “standard” and the rest, including the sail, is up to you. Be creative!
Great First Sailboat
We hear it all the time, “I don’t know how to sail”.
For most of the people that build these, it is their first boat too and they don’t know how to sail either!! Sailing is easy, just point the boat in the direction you want to go, then pull in the sail till it stops flapping. The best way to learn is to have your own boat, and take it out on a very light wind day, on a very small lake, and give it a try. Take a set of oars, and if you can’t figure out how to sail back, then drop your sail and row back. If you know a sailor, then invite them along and they will help you out, the PD Racer can easily carry 2 adults.
Build Options
Assisted Build
Work side by side with a professional builder to complete your boat. This option gives the novice builder confidence to complete the build process.
After wards you will have not only the sense of accomplishment, you will know your boat inside and out.
Buy A Kit
Keeping this in mind we have created a kit that allows the builder freedom to be creative. While designed as a lightweight racer, the sit-on sides and 500+ pounds of displacement provide room for up to 2 additional crew members. Both the leeboard and the rudder are self-tending, with kick-up style boards. The provided 60 sq, ft, Leg o’ Mutton sail will provide plenty of thrills in heavier winds, but dumps air in a gust to prevent spills.
